A central heating installation covers the pipework, the radiators and the controls as well. If the existing system is sound, you only need the boiler, and we will say so.

Yes. It is a larger job than a boiler swap because the pipework and radiators all have to go in, and access to floor voids drives a lot of it, so we look at the property before quoting rather than pricing it over the phone.

Not automatically. Radiators in good condition and of the right output can often stay. We will tell you which ones are worth keeping instead of assuming the whole lot goes.

Usually in part. Pipework has to get from the boiler to each radiator, and in most London houses that means floorboards up in some rooms. We agree the routes with you first, along with anything that will need boxing in afterwards.

Most people do. The work usually moves from room to room, so there is disruption, dust and floorboards up in parts of the house rather than everywhere at once. There will be a period without heating and hot water around the changeover to the new boiler, and we tell you in advance when that is. Doing the job outside winter makes the whole thing much easier to live with.

Yes, the boiler part does. Installing a gas boiler is notifiable work, and as Gas Safe registered engineers we notify it through the Gas Safe Register, which then sends a Building Regulations compliance certificate to the property. Keep it with your house documents, because a buyer’s solicitor will ask for it. In a leasehold flat, check separately whether the lease needs the freeholder’s consent for the work.
