Yoga studio plumbing and hot yoga heating in London
Ninja Plumbers provides yoga studio plumbing, heating and electrics for independent yoga studios across London, from hot yoga rooms to quiet spaces above a shop. Your students practise barefoot and spend much of each class lying down, so the floor has to feel warm and the room settled before anyone unrolls a mat. We fit underfloor heating, move radiators out of the practice space, wire infrared and convector heaters for heated classes, and clear steam with extraction and air conditioning. We also keep the WCs, the mat-cleaning sink and the after-class shower in good order. Work happens before opening or after the evening session, never mid-class.
What jobs do we take on for yoga studios?
- Underfloor heating beneath practice floors
- Radiators relocated away from mat areas
- Separate circuits for infrared and convector heaters
- Extraction sized for heated classes
- Air conditioning to cool and dry the room
- Post-class showers and small changing areas
- Mat-cleaning sinks and water refill points
- WC and flush repairs for class changeover

What do yoga studios need from their plumbing, heating and electrics?
-
A warm floor for bare feet
Students stand barefoot and then rest in savasana, so the temperature down at mat level matters more than the air near the ceiling. Underfloor heating gives an even, gentle warmth with no hot surfaces to brush against, and leaves the walls free for props and shelving. If radiators stay, we can move them to the edges of the room, clear of where mats are laid. A timer set to start well ahead of the first class means early arrivals walk into a room that already feels welcoming.
-
Heated and hot yoga rooms
Infrared panels and convector heaters for heated classes draw serious power, and each bank should sit on its own circuit rather than sharing with sockets and lights. Our registered electricians check the fuse board, run and test the new circuits, and fit controls your teachers find simple to use. Because the same team handles plumbing, ventilation and air conditioning, heaters, extraction and cooling are designed as one system, so the room reaches temperature for class and can be brought back down afterwards.
-
Humidity, condensation and resetting the room
A heated class leaves the air thick with warmth and moisture. If it lingers, it settles on cold glass, outside walls and ceilings, and black mould starts to show in corners and behind blinds. Extraction sized for the room and the number of students pulls that moisture out between sessions, and air conditioning can then cool and dry the space so the next group starts fresh. We look at airflow, where fans discharge, and any cold spots that keep attracting damp.
-
Showers, WCs and a mat-cleaning sink
After a hot class, students want a quick rinse and somewhere to change, while the next group queues for the loo. One or two well-supplied showers, WCs with reliable flushes and a basin that refills quickly carry you through that changeover. A deep utility sink makes wiping down mats, blocks and bolsters easier, and a filtered water refill point saves on bottles. Many studios sit above shops or in converted chapels and warehouses, so we check upstairs pressure and waste routes first.
Preparing the room before the first class
Think about how the room feels at half past six on a winter morning, not at midday. Underfloor heating and a solid floor take time to warm through, so programme the heating to start early and hold a steady, modest temperature rather than turning it up when you unlock. Put the thermostat on an internal wall, away from heaters and the draughty entrance. If your studio sits above a shop that is unheated overnight, insulation beneath new underfloor heating shortens warm-up times noticeably.
Controlling moisture in heated studios
Moisture from a heated class has to go somewhere. Run the extraction during and after each hot session, and leave it on for a while after the final class of the day so surfaces dry overnight. Watch for early signs: misted windows that stay wet, a musty smell, or grey spotting on sealant and in corners. Clean air conditioning filters more often than you would in a dry room. If mould returns soon after cleaning, the fan is probably undersized or discharging poorly, which is worth having checked properly.
Keeping showers safe and visits quiet
A shower used only after heated classes can sit idle for days. Under HSE guidance (ACoP L8), whoever controls the premises, you or your landlord, must manage legionella risk, and stagnant water in rarely used outlets is part of it. Flush any quiet shower weekly for a short while and keep a simple log. We handle the plumbing side, such as cutting out dead legs and fitting or servicing thermostatic mixing valves. On site, we agree times outside classes, keep tools out of the practice room and leave everything clean.

Questions about plumbing for yoga studios
What is the best way to heat a yoga studio?
For most studios, underfloor heating is the most comfortable option, because warmth comes up evenly through the floor where students practise. The easiest moment to lay it is while the studio is being refurbished and the old floor is lifted. If you keep radiators, place them clear of mat areas and set a schedule that starts well ahead, so the first students step into warmth.
Can you install infrared heaters for hot yoga?
Yes. Our registered electricians fit infrared panels and convector heaters on dedicated circuits, check whether your fuse board can take the extra load, and test everything before classes begin. We normally plan the heaters alongside extraction or air conditioning, so the room can heat up for class and then be cleared of warmth and moisture afterwards.
How do I stop condensation and mould in my hot yoga room?
Start with extraction that suits the size of the room and the number of students, running during and after every heated class. Air conditioning helps dry and cool the space between sessions. Keep an eye on corners, window reveals and ceilings. If mould keeps coming back, we can look at the fan size, ducting and where the moist air actually ends up.
Can I add a shower to my yoga studio?
Often, yes, even in a studio above a shop or in a converted building. We check the water pressure at your floor, how hot water will be supplied and where the waste can run. If a gravity drain is not practical, a pumped waste may work. You get a clear explanation and an agreed price before anything begins.
Can you do the work without disrupting classes?
Yes. We book noisy jobs before you open, after the last session or on a closed day, and keep any daytime work well away from the practice room. Everyone who comes is a DBS-checked member of our own staff, and they tidy as they go. For a leak or a blocked WC that cannot wait, there is a 24/7 emergency callout.
