Clinic and dental practice plumbing has to work between every patient, not just most of the time. Ninja Plumbers looks after the building services in private clinics, dental surgeries, physiotherapy rooms and similar practices across London: hand-wash basins in treatment rooms, patient and staff WCs, hot water, drains and heating. We don't work on dental chairs, suction or medical gas, so we stay clear of anything your equipment engineer maintains. What we do cover, we plan around your lists, with a price agreed before work starts and DBS-checked engineers employed directly by us.

What premises like yours need

What do clinics and dental practices need from their plumbing, heating and electrics?

  • Clinical hand-wash basins

Clinical settings have their own guidance on hand-wash basins, and it asks more than a standard washroom does. It generally favours basins without a plug or overflow, taps you can operate without using your hands, and water mixed to a safe, comfortable temperature. We fit and replace basins, lever and sensor taps and the pipework behind them. If your practice follows a particular specification or your infection control lead has requirements, give them to us and we will work to them.

  • Water that stays safe

Clinics often have more little-used outlets than they realise: a basin in a room used twice a week, a staff shower, a sink kept for emergencies. Water standing in those pipes is a legionella concern, and clinical settings also have their own water safety guidance. The practice or its landlord holds the duty to manage that risk under HSE guidance. We do the plumbing side: removing dead legs, fixing little-used outlets, cylinder work and fitting or replacing thermostatic mixing valves.

  • Reliable hot water and heating

Patients in a cold waiting room notice, and so does a nurse at a basin that runs lukewarm. Many practices are in converted houses and shops, running a domestic-sized boiler and cylinder or combi that now works far harder than it was meant to. We repair and replace boilers, cylinders and radiators, and improve controls so rooms heat evenly. Larger commercial boilers need engineers with commercial gas qualifications, and we will tell you straight if yours is beyond what we do.

  • Drains and WCs that don't close a room

A blocked patient toilet or a slow drain in a treatment room means cancelled appointments. Accessible WCs see heavy use, and wipes and hygiene products cause most blockages. Drains under older buildings can also be cracked or displaced. We clear blockages, repair and replace WCs, fit new cisterns and fill valves, and survey drains by camera when problems keep coming back. Because we also do electrics, washroom extractor fans and lighting can be sorted by the same team.

Know where our work stops

Dental chairs, suction units, compressors, medical gas and sterilisation equipment are specialist systems with their own engineers and maintenance schedules, and that work should stay with them. Our job is the building: the plumbing, heating and electrics that serve each room. Where the two meet, such as the water supply to a chair or the drain from a decontamination room, agree with your equipment supplier where their responsibility ends. A short written note of who looks after what saves a lot of confusion when something breaks mid-session.

Keeping little-used outlets flushed

If a treatment room or staff shower goes unused for a week or more, water sits in the pipes and drifts into the temperature range where bacteria grow. A simple routine helps: run each little-used tap and shower for a few minutes every week and keep a record. Tell us about basins that are never used, because removing them and cutting the pipe back is often better than flushing them indefinitely. Your water safety risk assessment, carried out by a specialist, should set out what applies to your practice.

Planning work around patients

Most plumbing work in a clinic can be done without closing, provided it is planned. Tell us which rooms are booked and when, and we can work in one room while the others carry on, or come in before or after sessions. Isolating valves on each basin and WC mean a repair need not shut off water to the whole practice, so if yours are missing, fitting them is worthwhile. We sheet off work areas to keep dust down and clean up before a room goes back into use.

Questions

Questions about plumbing for clinics and dental practices

Do you work on dental chairs or suction?

No. Dental chairs, suction, compressors and medical gas are maintained by specialist equipment engineers, and we leave that work to them. We look after the building: hand-wash basins, WCs, hot water, drains, heating and electrics. If a fault could be either, we are happy to check the building side so you know who to call.

Can you fit clinical hand-wash basins?

Yes. We fit basins without plugs or overflows where your specification or infection control lead asks for them, along with lever, elbow or sensor taps. If your practice follows particular guidance, share it with us before we quote so the basin, taps and water temperature are right from the start.

Can you take care of legionella for us?

Partly. The practice, or the landlord, has a duty to manage legionella risk under HSE guidance, and the risk assessment should come from a specialist. We don't carry out assessments, but we do the plumbing work they recommend, such as removing dead legs, sorting little-used outlets, cylinder work and fitting or replacing thermostatic mixing valves.

Can you work outside clinic hours?

Yes. We can start early, work late or come in at weekends so rooms are free for patients during sessions. For problems that won't wait, such as a burst pipe or a WC that has flooded, we have a 24/7 emergency callout. The price is always agreed before work starts.

Can you look after our boiler?

It depends on the boiler. Our Gas Safe engineers work on domestic-sized boilers and appliances, which many practices in converted buildings have. Larger commercial plant needs engineers with commercial gas qualifications. Send us the make and model, and we will tell you straight whether it is something we can look after.
