What we do

Nail bar and pedicure chair plumbing in London

A nail bar runs on a row of pedicure chairs, a line of manicure desks and a steady supply of hot water, usually squeezed into a narrow shopfront unit. Ninja Plumbers handles nail bar plumbing across London: connecting pedicure spa chairs to hot and cold supplies and a drain, fitting hand-wash basins for technicians and a separate sink for cleaning tools, and making sure hot water keeps up when several footbaths fill at once. Our registered electricians add sockets at each desk and fit extract fans, so one team covers the whole job. We work before you open or after you close.

  • Hand-wash basins for technicians
  • Separate tool cleaning sinks

What premises like yours need

What do nail bars need from their plumbing, heating and electrics?

  • Pedicure chairs that fill and drain properly

Plumbed pedicure spa chairs need a hot and a cold supply, usually on isolating valves, and a waste to carry used footbath water away. Where the chairs sit on a raised platform or a long way from the drain, a small pump may be needed to lift the waste. Not every chair is plumbed: some are pipeless, and some are filled and emptied by hand, so check what yours needs before you plan the layout. The maker's instructions set out how the supply and waste should connect.

  • Hand-wash basins and a separate tool sink

Technicians wash their hands many times a day, so a basin within easy reach of the desks matters, with hot and cold or mixed warm water. Cleaning files, bowls and implements in that same basin is a habit worth avoiding. A second sink kept for tools, near where you disinfect and store them, keeps the two jobs apart. In a narrow unit we often fit a compact basin by the desks and a tool sink at the back, sharing one waste run where the layout allows.

  • Hot water for several footbaths at once

When three clients arrive for pedicures together, three footbaths fill at the same moment while the hand-wash basins are still in use. A small combi or a single under-sink heater can fall behind, and the last bath fills lukewarm. We look at how many chairs you have, how often they fill in a busy hour and what your gas and electrical supply can take, then suggest a cylinder, a larger heater or a point-of-use unit for the far end of the room.

  • Fume extraction and power at every desk

Acetone, acrylic liquid and gel products give off fumes and dust that build up in a small, busy room. Our electricians fit and wire extract fans, which help clear the air; specialist local exhaust ventilation at each desk is a job for a ventilation designer, and we will say so. Each desk also needs its own sockets for UV or LED lamps, drills and dust collectors, rather than chains of extension leads. Near footbaths and sinks, sockets and switches must be kept a safe distance from water.

Cleaning footbaths between clients

Footbaths and their pipework hold warm water, skin and product residue, which is why makers set out a cleaning and disinfecting routine between clients and at the end of the day. Follow the instructions for your chair, as the steps and products vary, and keep a simple log of when it was done. Pipeless chairs are easier to clean but still need care around the jet housing. If a chair drains slowly or smells even after cleaning, the waste or trap may be partly blocked, and that is something we can clear and check.

Licensing and your council

Many London boroughs license special treatment premises, and some include nail treatments in that list while others handle them differently. Check with your council's licensing team before you open or refit, and ask what they expect to see. Where a licence applies, officers usually look for hand-wash basins with hot and cold running water, and many like to see a sink for tools kept apart from the one used for hands. Leave time before any council visit so that anything the officer raises can be put right.

Planning a refit in a shopfront unit

Most nail bars sit in narrow units with the only drain at the back, so where the pedicure chairs go decides much of the plumbing. Chairs along the back wall can often drain by gravity; chairs near the window may need a pump, or a raised platform to hide the pipework. Leave access panels so valves and traps can be reached without taking the platform apart. If you rent, get your landlord's written consent for drainage changes. We can do the noisy work after closing so you keep trading.

Questions

Questions about plumbing for nail bars

Can you plumb in a new pedicure spa chair?

Yes, if it is a plumbed model. We connect the hot and cold supply with isolating valves and run the waste to a drain, or fit a small pump where gravity won't work. Send us the model and installation guide first, as makers differ. Pipeless or hand-filled chairs may need no plumbing at all.

Do I need a separate sink for cleaning tools?

It is good practice, and many councils expect it where a licence applies. Using the hand-wash basin to rinse files and bowls mixes two jobs that should stay apart. A small tool sink near your cleaning area is usually straightforward to add, and it can often share a waste run with an existing basin.

Can you fit extraction for acetone and acrylic fumes?

Our electricians fit and wire extract fans, which help clear the general air in the room. Extraction at each desk, known as local exhaust ventilation, is a specialist design job, and if that is what you need we will tell you. We can then wire in the units your ventilation supplier specifies.

Why does our hot water run out on busy days?

Usually several footbaths and basins are drawing hot water at once and the heater or combi cannot keep up. A worn heater element, or scale from hard London water, can make it worse. We check what you have against how you use it, then suggest options, with the price agreed before work starts.

Will the work mean closing for a day?

Rarely. Connecting a chair or adding a basin can usually be done before your first booking or after the last one. Bigger refits can be split over several evenings so you keep trading. If a chair connection leaks during the day, call our 24/7 emergency line. Our DBS-checked engineers are directly employed, not subcontractors.
